Results of Using Too Much Laundry Detergent.

Many customers are surprised to find that the cause of the washing machine error is that they are using too much detergent. Many believe that the malfunction is due to a manufacturer's mistake, not their own doing. The reality of many washing machine repairs is due to improper use of detergents. To fully understand what we are talking about, we first need to understand why washing machine problems occur from using too much laundry soap.

Warning Signs Indicating That You Are Using Too Much Detergent

Over the last decade, federal regulations have been enacted to reduce the amount of water used for each washing machine load. This means that if you're using the same amount of detergent that you used on your old machine, you're probably overusing soap. Less water means less soap is broken down, leaving more soap scum, residue and scale. This poses a bigger problem for newer and more efficient washing machine owners.

If you like the amount of detergent you use on your clothes because of the odor, you can avoid a malfunction of using too much soap by adding an additional rinse or pre-wash cycle to break down the remaining soap. We recommend reducing the amount of soap used to 1 tablespoon per load.
