JennAir Freezer Repair Calgary

Is your JennAir freezer not staying as cold as it used to? If you have found your freezer warmer than normal, it is likely that it needs a little TLC! Usually, troubleshooting a freezer that is having this issue is all it takes to getting it back up and running like it used to. When you utilize these easy techniques, you should be able to feel a noticeable difference in the temperature of your freezer within 24 hours.

Here is our 3 Ways to Troubleshoot Your JennAir Freezer:

1. Condenser Coils Are Built Up with Dirt:

The first thing to check when your JennAir freezer is not staying cold is the condenser coils. If the coils are dirty, they can no longer dissipate the heat released by cooling the freezer which in turn warms the freezer itself up. This causes your freezer to overheat.

The condenser coils are located on the back of your unit or on the bottom, depending on the style of freezer you have (upright and chest). With the coils being exposed over time - dirt, debris, dust, and hair will begin to accumulate on them. Therefore, the coils should be cleaned from time to time to ensure that your freezer is working properly and maintains the correct temperature setting.

Every technician and manufacturer will advise you to perform maintenance on your condenser coils every 6-12 months. To perform maintenance, clean the condenser coils very slowly and gently with a vacuum cleaner. Once you have cleaned the coils, wait 24 hours to see if this resolves the improper cooling of your JennAir freezer.

2. Temperature is Not Properly Set

If your JennAir freezer (as a refrigerator) does not stay cold and you have already cleaned the condenser coils, make sure the temperature is set to the correct setting. We recommend that you refer to the user manual and follow the recommended temperature setting for the unit, as each may be slightly different.

If the temperature is set to the correct setting, the thermostat may be defective. Switch the thermostat from the lowest temperature to the highest temperature, if you do not hear a click, the thermostat is probably defective and needs to be replaced. We recommend that you call a certified JennAir service technician to test if it is defective.

3. Evaporator Coils Built Up with Ice

If your freezer stays hot, it may mean that the evaporator coils have frozen over. If this happens, it is likely that your defrost system in your freezer has failed. Your defrost system will turn on and off throughout the day to remove any frost that has accumulated on the coils. If this system fails, it will cause your evaporator coils to freeze completely.

If you have checked your temperature setting and your evaporator coils and the freezer is still not staying cold enough, you will likely need to bring in a certified appliance repair technician in to diagnose and repair it. Our technicians are ready and eager to help get your JennAir freezer back up and running for you!
