Cleaning out your sink and wiping your counters after every meal, may seem like a task you can never forget. Something that is often forgotten is cleaning the inside of your oven. You will notice when your oven needs a clean and this is when it begins to smoke, anytime that you warm it up. When this appears, you know it is time to clean your oven again. If self-cleaning just isn’t cutting it, try these tips to getting your oven clean on your own.

Cleaning Technique 1: Use Citrus to Clean Your Oven


 Everyone knows the saying that when life gives you lemons.. but did you know that when life gives you lemons, you can use them to clean your oven?

 Let us dive deeper into this. Citrus aromas such as lemon, are great degreasers. They can loosen hard to remove food particles that are stuck to the sides or bottom of your oven. For an easy and quick way of cleaning your oven, take an oven safe container or bowl and squeeze the juice of two lemons and 1/3 cup of water into the vessel. Place this dish in your oven and set it to 250oF for a total of 30 minutes. When the lemon juice warms up and begins to vaporize, these fumes will help remove and loosen any food particles and stains that are in your oven. When the 30 minutes ends, let your oven cool down, and remove any remaining stains and food with a firm spatula or firm cloth.



 Cleaning Technique 2: Soap and Water


 This technique may seem self-explanatory and you may have already tried to use this method. It is essential that you only use this method when your oven is not super filthy. To clear out little spots of stains and splotches, wipe down the inside of your oven with a clean cloth that has been soaked in warm water with dish soap. When you have done this to your entire oven, pat dry your oven with paper towel or a clean, dry cloth. This method may take a bit more elbow grease as you do not have any help from your oven, only try this if your oven is not super dirty.



Cleaning Technique 3: Baking Soda

Baking soda is a common household ingredient that has a huge cleaning side to it! It is great to remove stains, soap scum, scale, dirt, and grime. It can actually be used to tackle cleaning your oven and here is how it can be used. Make a paste of baking soda and water by using ¾ cup of baking soda to ¼ cup lukewarm water. Remove the oven racks and smear this paste all over the inside of your even. Leave this paste on overnight and when you wake up, remove the paste with a damp paper towel or clean cloth. Now reveal your shiny, clean oven.



Cleaning Technique 4: If Nothing Else Works, Call on Vinegar


 Vinegar is another common household ingredient that has a huge cleaning power. If the 3rd technique did not do the trick for you, it is time to enlist the help of vinegar. Repeat step 3 and before you clean off the baking soda, spray it with a small amount of vinegar before. Baking soda is a base and vinegar is an acid so when they are combined, you get a bubbly blend of an awesome cleaning agent. This will help to remove the extreme stains in your oven.
